In 1975, Laxmichand H Nagda started his journey after working at a masala store in Mumbai since 1970. With a passion for quality spices, he opened his own business supplying powdered spices to local shops, laying the groundwork for what would become Manish Masala.
In 1976, Laxmichand and his elder son, Virendra L Nagda, registered the brand Manish. They opened a small 150 sq. ft. spice shop, supplying powdered spices in 2.5kg and 5kg loose paper bags to retail stores across Mumbai, marking the brand’s official entry into the market.
To fight against adulteration in loose packaging and ensure product purity, Manish Masala launched three essential products—chili, turmeric, and coriander powder—in small packaging. This initiative aimed to provide consumers with direct access to unadulterated spices, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to quality.
Recognizing the growing demand for their products, Manish Masala established its own sales depot in the Mumbai suburbs in 1990. This strategic move improved distribution and sales management, ensuring that their high-quality spices reached more customers efficiently.
In 1998, Manish Masala broadened its offerings by introducing a variety of blended and pure spices. This expansion catered to changing consumer tastes and preferences, strengthening the brand’s reputation for quality and authenticity in the spice market.
By 2006, Manish Masala focused on strengthening its sales and distribution channels across India. Establishing a network of dealers and distributors helped enhance product availability and brand visibility, further embedding Manish Masala into households nationwide.
In 2012, Manish Masala began supplying quality products to exporters in India. This move not only expanded their market reach but also highlighted their commitment to maintaining high standards of quality that appeal to international markets.
To meet increasing consumer demand, Manish Spices set up an additional processing unit in Mumbai in 2021. This expansion enabled the brand to boost production capabilities while ensuring that its commitment to quality and purity remained strong.
